Why Entrepreneurship? Why Now?

Growing Iowa’s existing small businesses and nurturing our new, start-up businesses is the key to economic vitality. The jobs, tax revenues and economic impact generated by local businesses build our communities, support our schools and attract/retain our residents.  The importance of entrepreneurs to Iowa is unquestionable.  However, to maximize the potential of entrepreneurs communities must develop and provide a supportive culture, business and technical assistance, access to capital at all levels and networking opportunities with service providers and fellow business owners.

We need to ensure:

  • Entrepreneurs have a Supportive Culture

  • Business/Technical Resources are easily accessible

  • Access to Capital is available at all levels

  • Thriving social, professional, and business networks

Testimonials:

“I wish people would see the value of (small business) on rural communities. Maybe it’s not easy out here…but there are so many great people with wonderful talents”

Ann Greenwalt, Carver's Ridge

“Being able to bring back people to our community, schools and Main Street, and to support our local businesses, means a lot to this family and this business.”

Jeremy Puck, Puck Custom Enterprises Inc.

“The #1 issue is identifying who the entrepreneurs are and often they need to know who we are and that there is assistance out there.  People just are not aware there is help available”

Sarah Gomez, Midwest Partnership Economic Development
